Gary Leach

Dr. Gary LeachDr. Gary Leach received the 2000 SFU Excellence in Teaching Award.

Learning about classic thermodynamic chemistry is a necessary evil for most chemistry students. So it’s all the more significant that they singled out Gary Leach who teaches this complex subject.

Leach, they say, is remarkable for his enthusiasm and ability to present dry, complex information in a fashion that’s both understandable and enjoyable. Above all, however, they cite his extraordinary dedication to students. One student recalls asking for help with an assignment but having to leave for another class before he and Leach had discovered the problem. Later that afternoon, the student was quite surprised when Leach flagged him down with the answer.
