SFU Library works to promote effective, sustainable, and economically viable models of scholarly communication that provide barrier-free access to quality information.  In support of this goal, the Library has signed an agreement with SAGE allowing SFU faculty and students to publish in SAGE Open without paying article publishing charges.  SAGE Open is a new open access journal publishing peer-reviewed articles in the social and behavioral sciences and the humanities. Further information is available in the SAGE press release.   Contact your liaison librarian with questions about publishing with SAGE Open or another Open Access journal.

SFU Open Access Fund to cover SpringerOpen Article Processing Charges

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Springer announced the launch of a suite of Open Access journals, the first issues scheduled for publication in 2011.  Authors will retain copyright under the Creative Commons Attribution License to the 12 peer reviewed journals in a range of disciplines.    Funded by author-side fees (article processing charges), the journal articles will be freely available online and can be freely redistributed and reused, complying with a growing number of  funding-agency open access mandates.

To obtain funding from SFU Library’s Open Access Fund to publish in SpringerOpen or other Open Access journals, visit the Library’s Scholarly Publishing website.
