Q. I live in Langley and have an alumni ID card. Is it possible to withdraw a book from the main campus through the library at the King George campus? There is only one copy of the book.

A. Yes, you may indeed request books to be transferred from Belzberg (Vancouver) & Bennett (Burnaby) to the Fraser Library in Surrey and vice versa. Please see link below for more information about SFU Library services to alumni:

A. Thank you for your request. You will be pleased to know that the SFU Library already owns a copy of The Ravenous Brain: How the New Science of Consciousness Explains Our Insatiable Search for Meaning. Here is a direct URL to the title:  http://troy.lib.sfu.ca/record=b6088840~S1a

It is located at the Burnaby Campus (and currently checked out) but you are able to request it.  This will do two things — it will notify the person who has it currently checked out that someone is waiting for the title and they will be asked to return it.  It will also allow you to request it be delivered to the Surrey Campus.

Please see the following FAQs for more information:

Please let me know if we can be of further assistance.

Suggestion for New Title Purchase: Ready, set, go! : a student guide to SPSS 13.0 and 14.0 for Windows

Thursday, October 18th, 2012

Author: Thomas W. Pavkov, Kent A. Pierce.

Publisher & where & when published: McGraw-Hill, 2007
Where you saw this item mentioned: required for IS 240

A. Thank you for your suggestion, but we do not normally buy textbooks unless a professor requests one to be put on reserve. At this time we are not considering purchasing the 2nd edition of “Ready, set, go!: A student guide to SPSS 13.0 and 14.0 for Windows ”. Students are encouraged to buy their own textbooks. However, I encourage you to make future suggestions for non-required books that will supplement courses and support student assignments and research.

With kind regards,
Jenna
