Completing this term?
Transition from off-campus work permits to post-graduation work permits
If you plan on completing the requirements of your program this term you can continue to work using your off-campus work permit (as long as you have a valid study permit and valid off-campus work permit) for a period of 90 days (or until the expiry date) from the date of completion of requirements for your program.
This 90-day period is meant to coincide with the 90-day period you have in which to apply for a post-graduation work permit. Since processing for post-graduation work permits varies depending on the time of year, if you have a valid off-campus work permit you may begin your post-graduation work with your off-campus work permit until your post-graduation work permit is issued.
If you are eligible and in your last term, apply for an off-campus work permit now if you intend to engage in post-graduation employment.
For updated processing times, see CIC’s website. For step-by-step instructions on the application process for both types of work permits, see our website.
