Changes to Temporary Resident Visa Application Process – Applying from within Canada

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has announced that effective May 29, 2012, clients from visa required countries residing in Canada and holding a valid study or work permit may apply for a new Temporary Resident Visa at the new Case Processing Pilot office in Ottawa.

HPAIR Asia Conference – Deadline: May 31

Harvard Project for Asia and International Relations (HPAIR) is the largest annual student conferences in the Asia-Pacific region. Since 1991, HPAIR has continuously gathered a growing pool of international students from top universities, renowned academics, business professionals, and political leaders to engage in rigorous educational events.  Our programs intend to achieve three goals:

Duties will include translation, interviewing, and collating data. This employment opportunity will take place on specific dates this term with an anticipated commitment of 25 hours or fewer.

Federal Skilled Worker Program’s capacity has been reached

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has released an official notice indicating that they have reached its cap of 10,000 applicants in the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) for July 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012. CIC will not be accepting any new FSW applications unless they are accompanied by qualifying job offers or are submitted under the PhD eligibility stream.

Need to apply for a TRV this summer?

Given the recent operational changes at the Canadian Consulate in Seattle (see our blog entry), we would like to kindly advise you to take proactive steps to apply for a TRV soon if you plan on travelling this summer.

You can only apply for a TRV from a Canadian visa office outside of Canada. If you are currently in Canada, you can apply for a new TRV by mail through a Canadian visa office in the United States. If you are outside of Canada, you can apply from the nearest Canadian visa office.

Processing times differ at each office, therefore, please view our updated handout to start your application now.
