Impossible2possible (i2P) Project – Invitation to international students to participate

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

i2p.png

Impossible2possible (i2P) is an educational non-profit organization dedicated to educating, inspiring, and empowering our global community to make a positive impact around the world.  To this end, i2P creates and hosts adventurous youth based expeditions coupled with i2P Experiential Learning Programs that motivate and prepare young people to protect the earth and its people.

SFU is part of the team that is developing the educational modules and will be facilitating the expedition about World Health this fall to India.  As part of SFU’s involvement, i2P is creating a promotional video to encourage the participation of high school students globally.  We are looking for undergraduate international students between ages 18-20 attending SFU who lived abroad at age 14 to volunteer to be interviewed for the video.  The interview should only take about 10 minutes.  Questions will include some of the following:

At the age of 14…
…Did you view yourself as being healthy?
…Did you ever have a serious illness?
…What did you do for health and wellness?
…Describe your house and a typical day of meals  (price, costs, amenities, etc.)
…What medical/health supplies did you use/have available in your house?

Interviewees will be asked to answer the questions from their own perspective, as well as thinking more broadly to the perspectives of their family, community, and country.  It is through this promotional video that we hope to introduce the concept of World Health to the students and get them thinking about some of the broader issues.

Potential interviewees who are interested in volunteering for the project are welcome to email kbb@sfu.ca for additional information.

Obtain your U-Pass BC

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

Effective Fall 2011, changes have been made to the U-PASS including modifications to the eligibility and exemption requirements for the U-Pass BC program

As a current/returning student, the new U-Pass BC dispensing machines will require that you get your student card updated with a magnetic strip. These magnetic strips can be added during office hours at the three SFU campuses, beginning August 25th.

To avoid lineups in September; ensure that you get this done as soon as you are able to.
