Fall 2011

Marshall McLuhan

2011 is the centenary year of the birth of Marshall McLuhan, on July 21, 1911. He is the subject of three notable biographies:

Philip Marchand, Marshall McLuhan: The Medium and the Messenger (New York: Random House, 1989).

W. Terrance Gordon, Marshall McLuhan: Escape into Understanding (New York: Basic, 1997).

Douglas Coupland, Marshall McLuhan (Toronto: Penguin, 2009).

Coupland’s, the most generically unconventional of the biographies, is also the most digitally innovative.
